As a result of significant growth in India, Russia, Turkey and Brazil, Bergstrom Inc., a global provider in the design and supply of climate systems to the commercial vehicle industry, has appointed Steve Carter to the newly created position of director of emerging markets. Graham Cook will assume Carter’s previous role as managing director of Bergstrom Europe.

Carter will be responsible for developing new opportunities worldwide and for managing emerging markets by establishing the infrastructure necessary to support them on an ongoing basis. “With Steve’s appointment to this position, we are renewing our focus on emerging markets, with the ultimate goal of eventually establishing a new division within Bergstrom,” says Jack Shaffer, president and chief operating officer of Bergstrom Inc. “We recognize the huge opportunities that are in the global marketplace, and I am confident that Steve and his team will continue to strengthen our excellent relationships with customers and suppliers worldwide.”

Cook, a 30-year veteran of the mobile heating and air conditioning industry, previously was executive business director at Bergstrom Europe Ltd. He also has worked with Smith Industries, Delanair, Valeo and Kysor. “With the European economy moving toward a recovery we are in a position to capture a larger market share,” Shaffer says. “We know that Graham will do a wonderful job serving existing customers and continuing to grow our Wales facility.”
