Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. announced that Walt Metz joined the company’s legal department as vice president and assistant general counsel. A 29-year veteran in legal affairs, Metz’s experience includes counseling both privately and publicly held companies as well as clients represented by private practices. At Old Dominion, his immediate responsibilities will include oversight of liability claims and providing strategic legal counsel to the entire organization. Over time, he will become more involved in all aspects of the general counsel responsibility.
Prior to joining Old Dominion, Metz spent five years directing legal affairs as the general counsel and secretary for Americold Realty Trust and Americold Logistics, a provider of temperature-controlled food distribution and logistics services. He also has held positions in the legal departments of Sears Holdings Roebuck Co. and Werner Enterprises Inc. Metz’s career also includes experience with commercial litigation and general practice at two firms in Omaha, Neb.
