Xtra Lease will host a day of educational seminars and demonstrations on Wednesday, May 25, designed to help area trucking companies and shippers manage rising fuel costs, cope with new safety regulations and better manage fleet utilization. The company moved to its new location in Kansas City, Mo., in late 2010, and will celebrate that move with a day-long expo at the new branch.

“While we’ve been in operation at the new location for a few months, we waited until the spring and better weather to accommodate as many people as possible,” says Bill Thompson, Xtra Lease branch manager. “We welcome all carriers and shippers to attend.”

Featured guest speakers will include Bruce Stockton, president of Stockton Solutions and a former vice president at Con-way Truckload, who will provide insights into how carriers can reduce fuel costs, which is critical as diesel fuel now averages in excess of $4.10 per gallon.

Tom Kretsinger Jr., president and chief operating officer of American Central Transport, will discuss the impact of the Federal Motor Carrier Association’s new Compliance Safety Accountability 2010 regulations and show what carriers can do to achieve compliance in a U.S. Department of Transportation audit.

Officer James Walton, Kansas City Police Department, will conduct a step-by-step DOT trailer inspection.

Craig Nolle, Xtra Lease trailer tracking manager, will demonstrate how fleets can enhance trailer utilization and asset management by using dormancy reports, geofencing, trip reporting and other tools available through trailer tracking.

The Expo will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., May 25, at the new Xtra Lease Kansas City location, 8851 N.E. Birmingham Road. Carriers are invited and encouraged to RSVP. For more information, go to xtralease.com/xtraexpo or call Thompson at 816-471-0730.
