Hornady Transportation of Monroeville, Ala., announced a 1-cent-per-mile pay increase for drivers. “This increase, coupled with tarp and safety pay, means experienced drivers can now earn up to 45 cents a mile,” says Guy Martorana, human resource director. “We feel this increase is necessary because of the competitive market we are in now for hiring qualified drivers.”

Hornady is also expanding its hiring focus to include northern Indiana and Illinois. Drivers living in those areas are eligible for “premium” pay, which means that experienced drivers now can earn up to 47 cents per mile. Hornady will also be offering a revised Sign-On Bonus that will give drivers more immediate pay.

“For the first year, drivers will receive an extra 2 cents on all dispatched miles they run,” Martorana says. “We are making these changes in order to benefit our drivers as well as new hires. We have a good program with many good people who want our drivers to be successful.”
