To commemorate the opening of its new full-service Freightliner dealership, TransChicago recently held an open house at its new facility in Shorewood, Ill. We saw the handwriting on the wall when business started rebounding and freight began to stabilize,” says Doug Cayce, president. “It seemed like a perfect opportunity for us to expand. Will County, where the dealership is located, is one of the biggest growth areas in the country.”

Cayce and his management team started scouting sites for a second dealership location in mid-2010 and found an existing facility that had previously served as a Wabash trailer dealership. “With intermodal terminals located in Joliet and the business development in Bolingbrook (two cities near the Shorewood location) combined with the volume in the I80-I55 corridor, locating here made sense,” Cayce says.

The facility is home to 10 service bays, a fully stocked parts department and 2,500 square feet of office space. A total of 31 employees work at the location with about one-third coming from TransChicago’s other dealership in Elmhurst, Ill. Located on 10 acres, provides the dealership plenty of room for growth in the future. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 6 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The open house featured displays by vendors including Cummins N Power, Seats Inc., Dura-Lite, SKF, Cummins Filtration and Meritor Inc.
