Aljex Software, a provider of hosted software solutions for freight brokers, carriers and other transportation companies, announced that Joe Hirschman has been named president of the 15-year-old company. Former president Tom Heine is now chief executive officer of the company he founded.

Hirschman previously held the position of vice president of operations and has been with the company since its inception in 1996. He worked with Heine in the brokerage business that preceded the move into software. “Joe has been my right hand and more,” Heine said. “He will still oversee our day-to-day operations, but now he takes on a more strategic role in the growth of Aljex.”

Robyn Freeman, previously director of sales, has been named vice president of sales. Freeman worked in manufacturing, retail and publishing before coming to Aljex in 2008. “Robyn learned quickly and well,” Heine says. “She has become an important resource for our customers and has earned a place in the company’s top management.”

Heine says the promotions will enable him as CEO to devote more time to Aljex’s long-term development.
