A new full-service trucking and transport resource, OnRamp Transportation Services, offers both equipment and business services to carriers, contractors and owner-operators. The West Valley City, Utah-headquartered company “saw a tremendous need in the marketplace” for its brand of carrier and driver service, said OnRamp president Michael Fife. The company combines equipment, finance, sales and leasing with business services such as bookkeeping, taxes and consulting.

As credit tightened with the 2008 downturn, Fife and his company saw opportunity to use its strong relationships with banks and mid- to large-size carriers to help owner-operators get into a 2-3-year-old truck with flexible, affordable lease terms. Among OnRamp’s equipment inventory are late-model Class-8 tractors by Freightliner, International and Volvo and new and used trailers for refrigerated, dry, flatbed or specialty applications.

The company’s Equinox Owner-Operator Solutions arm completes the package, offering an array of services from bookkeeping, tax and payroll preparation to consulting in fuel analysis. A new app for iPhone and Android devices called Equinox allows easy receipt submittal to help independents and smaller fleets get information to the company fast to take advantage of its real-time business analysis tools. Larger fleets and their contractors can benefit by easy integration of settlement data into Equinox systems.

“Trucking professionals don’t have to go at their business alone,” Fife said. “Our sole mission is to do everything we can to make our customers more profitable, secure and fulfilled in every aspect of their trucking and transportation business.” Depending on the services needed, he added, it starts for an owner-operator at about 99 cents a day.
