Dot Transportation Inc., which carries 100,000 products from 700 food industry manufacturers and is the largest food redistributor in the United States, has awarded its area Volvo dealership, Central Illinois Trucks, its 2010 Vendor of the Year award. “We like that they provide us a quality truck that meets our operational needs and focuses on safety in the design of their truck,” says Kevin Buss, director of fleet maintenance. “Drivers like the ride, quietness and comfort.”

DTI ranks its equipment vendors on truck and parts quality, service, maintenance cost, fuel economy and driver acceptance. In their 2010 evaluation, Volvo and CIT received highest scores for their prompt and thorough repair service and fast claim processing. “The DTI Vendor of the Year award is something that our equipment supply winners are very proud of, and they clearly understand the standards that must be met in order to win,” Buss says. “It is something they can take back and display for all their team members at the dealership and manufacturing plant.”

DTI and Volvo have been partners since 2003. Three quarters of DTI’s fleet now are Volvo tractors.
