Used-truck retailers recorded their second best-selling month of the year in August, according to a new report by the ATD/NADA Commercial Truck Guide, the group announced Wednesday, Oct. 12.

The average selling price of sleeper tractors also improved more than expected to levels on par with the best month of pre-recession 2008. As of August, the average sleeper tractor sold off a dealer’s lot was just less than six years old, had 523,399 miles and sold for $48,348.

“With August’s used truck sales numbers up more than we expected, plus an uptick in August and September new-truck orders, the truck industry is proving the economic naysayers wrong,” says Chris Visser, senior analyst with the ATD/NADA Commercial Truck Guide.
