Swift Transportation on Wednesday, Oct. 19, posted net income for the third quarter of 2011 of $30.95 million compared with a loss of $1.2 million during the same timeframe in 2010. Operating revenue rose nearly 14 percent to $863.8 million.
Swift, primarily a truckload carrier, also offers rail intermodal, freight brokerage and third-party logistics services. Its largest customer is retailer Wal-Mart, which accounts for about 10 percent of the Phoenix-based company’s revenue.
