FuelQuest Inc., an on-demand software and services company for the global downstream energy industry, announced a five-year contract with J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. Under the agreement, FuelQuest Fuel Center will be responsible for managing J.B. Hunt’s bulk fuel purchases within its terminal network.

“By partnering with FuelQuest and utilizing the FuelQuest Fuel Center, we gain capabilities that allow us to improve and streamline our bulk fuel purchasing with the automation of several manual processes,” says Craig Harper, executive vice president of operations and chief operations officer at J.B. Hunt.

With its team of fuel experts and Fuel Management System software, Fuel Center forecasts and sources fuel acting as a supplier-independent extension of the customer. Fuel Center assumes other critical fuel management activities, including order management and fuel, freight and tax charge reconciliation. Fuel Center says these capabilities allow it to provide its customers the following benefits:
• Centralized control and visibility of bulk fuel purchasing;
• Reduced working capital requirements;
• Increased security of supply; and
• Access to fuel market expertise using best-in-class technology.
Fuel Center also provides value management dashboards so customers can actively monitor their return on investment from the Fuel Center service.

“We are delighted to be working with J.B. Hunt on sourcing, replenishing and reconciling their bulk fuel inventory,” says Ryan Mossman, vice president and general manager of Fuel Center. “They are a great example of how leading transportation organizations are using fuel management automation to improve bulk fuel purchasing.”
