The Michigan Armed Forces Hospitality Center named Tim Burns, Meritor vice president of global defense, to its board of directors. Burns is the honorary chair for the upcoming Freedom Center Gala in May. “We are so pleased that Tim is joining the board,” says Ken Pratt, president of Michigan Armed Forces Hospitality Center. “His experience combined with Meritor’s commitment to our nation’s military will be invaluable tools for the Freedom Center going forward.”

Last November, Meritor, which is based in Troy, Mich., announced a two-year pledge totaling $20,000 from the Meritor Trust Fund to support the Freedom Center, which is located in the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Meritor has a long history of supporting the armed services members and their families; in 2009, Meritor was recognized with the Pro Patria Award, presented by the Michigan National Guard and Reserve, for the company’s exceptional support to its employees who serve in the U.S. military.
