The national average retail diesel price climbed for the third consecutive week, soaring 8.8 cents to $3.783 a gallon during the week ended Monday, July 23, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.
Two weeks ago saw the first price increase after 12 straight weekly declines dating back to April 9; during that time, the price of diesel had dropped 49.9 cents a gallon. Still, this week’s price is 16.6 cents below the same week last year.
Average retail prices rose in all regions, led by a 10.7-cent increase to $3.812 in the West Coast region not including California, The most expensive diesel on average was $3.976 a gallon in California, while the least expensive diesel on average was $3.701 a gallon in the Rocky Mountains.
