PeopleNet, a provider of integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems, on Monday, Oct. 8, announced a new PeopleNet Automated Workflow integration with TMWSuite from TMW Systems designed specifically to boost efficiency throughout crude/tanker fleet operations.

“Crude/tanker fleets have unique informational needs which we are committed to addressing in our Crude Hauler Suite,” said Randy Boyles, PeopleNet vice president of tailored solutions, making the announcement at the American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas. “This customized workflow integration helps our mutual customers in this segment generate even greater ROI from their technology investment in our Tablet and Blu onboard computing platforms.”

The new PeopleNet tailored workflow application reflects this segment’s unique information needs in custom forms that integrate with TMWSuite. Dispatchers populate order/load information into forms that prompt drivers through a queue designed to gather required data, helping to minimize driver interaction and facilitate collection of accurate information.

PeopleNet also announced that its integration with ALK Technologies’ CoPilot Truck In-Cab Navigation application now is commercially available and enhancing driver safety, route compliance and driver and back-office efficiency. Spoken turn-by-turn directions help eliminate the number one cause of accidents – distraction – and improve operations by helping reduce out-of-route mileage, wasted driver time and fuel costs.

PeopleNet also announced that J.B. Hunt Transport Services has chosen PeopleNet for its fleetwide electronic onboard recorder and onboard computing needs. “PeopleNet demonstrated a strong understanding of our business,” said Craig Harper, J.B. Hunt chief operating officer. “Not only is the company’s product roadmap closely aligned with our safety and service needs, but their responsiveness and flexibility are outstanding.”

PeopleNet said Blu.2 onboard computers have been installed in more than 2,300 J.B. Hunt trucks to date. All new trucks purchased by J.B. Hunt are equipped for PeopleNet installation through factory prewiring and are activated prior to deployment to J.B. Hunt’s network of services.
