After making this change, the number of units that SkyBitz shipped to customers more than doubled management’s expectations, said Henry Popplewell, senior vice president and general manager, during the Truckload Carriers Association annual conference, Mar. 9, in Kissimmee, Fla.

Its sales could easily more than double again this year. During the TCA conference, SkyBitz announced that U.S. Xpress will be deploying its SkyBitz as a Service platform across its fleet.

U.S. Xpress Enterprises is the nation’s second largest privately-owned truckload carrier. The company plans to activate a cellular tracking platform and cargo sensors from SkyBitz in all of its new dry van trailers and existing trailers this year, which will exceed 16,500 subscriptions.

Chatanooga, Tenn.-based U.S. Xpress is focused on four primary areas with SkyBitz, Popplewell says: accurate and timely data for yard checks, detention billing and trailer turn times, and seamless integration with its PSI tire pressure monitoring system for trailers.

“At U.S. Xpress, we take great pride in consistently delivering superior service to our customers. We focus on adopting innovative technology solutions that enable us to improve responsiveness to our customers and increase productivity,” said Max Fuller, chairman and CEO, U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc.

Fuller said SkyBitz worked closely with U.S. Xpress to develop a custom integration for greater visibility and efficiencies in multiple departments, from maintenance to dispatch and business operations.
