Ryder Mobile AppAs one of the largest commercial fleet management providers, Ryder reaches out by phone and email to fleet customers when maintenance is due on vehicles to assist with scheduling service at its shops. Drivers and fleet managers can also call in when unexpected maintenance issues arise.

These manual processes have now gone digital with the launch of a free mobile app, RyderGyde. By capturing vehicle odometer readings from telematics systems and fuel transactions, Ryder automatically notifies its customers when maintenance is due and with the app users can schedule service, says Aimee Schmalzle, senior director of digital product marketing at Ryder.

Besides scheduling maintenance, users can see real-time contract rates at Ryder locations and market fuel rates at thousands of locations to make purchasing decisions. They can also find Ryder locations, contact Roadside Assistance and view upcoming service appointments.

The shop scheduling feature is geared towards fleet managers, though some fleets may want to give drivers permission to schedule assigned equipment. The user profiles and permissions can be configured, she said.

“Our goal was simple — build the features that customers want based on what’s important to the person using the application,” said Karen Jones, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Ryder. “We listened to drivers and fleet managers to identify the features that would be most beneficial to them within a fleet management app, and today, we are pleased to give them exactly what they asked for.”

Once logged in, Ryder customers can schedule their maintenance appointments across North America in 60 seconds or less. In the app, users can view and manage which vehicles within their fleet need servicing.

“RyderGyde is so simple and easy to use that it has made managing my fleet easier than ever,” said Ray Perez, domestic manager of DGD Transport, an asset-based 3PL provider based in Miami, Fla. “I was pleasantly surprised by how intuitive this app is. I can’t wait to see how they continue to evolve it. I’m putting it into the hands of all my drivers to make their lives easier on the road.”

In the near future, the app will also include the ability to rent a vehicle, browse used vehicle inventory for sale, and log fuel receipts.

Without bring a Ryder customer, users are able to currently see market fuel rates and Ryder locations. The company plans to continue building features that are relevant to non-customers.

“We are trying to create an app that can be used by the industry,” Schmalzle said.

The RyderGyde app is available on iOS and Android devices, and can be downloaded on the App Store and Google Play. To learn more, visit ryder.com/rydergyde.
