Midwest Motor Express and DHE Transportation will rebrand Jan. 1 under the AAA Cooper Transportation brand, parent company Knight-Swift announced.
In a letter to customers, AAA Cooper President and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Prickett said the consolidation of its principal LTL carriers does not affect existing pricing, data exchanges, SCAC code, or current points of contact.
In the last three years, Phoenix, Arizona-based Knight-Swift (CCJ Top 250, No. 3) has spent more than $1 billion on its LTL network buildout.
Knight-Swift last year acquired Los Angeles-based regional LTL carrier Dependable Highway Express to strengthen Knight-Swift's West Coast LTL operations. In 2021 it acquired RAC MME Holdings and its subsidiaries, which included Midwest Motor Express and Midnite Express, and Dothan, Alabama-based less-than-truckload carrier AAA Cooper.
"Sustained by your confidence, we have successfully integrated two regional brands, expanded into over 50 new markets, and established around 40,000 new line-haul lanes across our network," wrote Prickett. "This integration occurred alongside the ongoing transition of MME and DHE into ACT's operating and administrative systems, with the final migration to ACT's financial systems in July 2025."
Business has been booming for Knight-Swift's LTL carriers. Revenue for the second quarter 2025, excluding fuel surcharge, increased 28.4% year-over-year as shipments per day increased 21.7%, and revenue per hundredweight excluding fuel surcharge increased 9.9%. The Adjusted Operating Ratio was 93.1% as Adjusted Operating Income declined by 36.8% due to start-up costs and early-stage operations at recently opened facilities as well as continued costs related to the integration of DHE.
During the second quarter, Knight-Swift opened three new service centers and replaced one more with a larger site, bringing its year-to-date growth in door count to 7.8% and its year-over-year growth in door count to 27.5%.
