Ford is recalling certain 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles over concerns of possible windshield wiper failure.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the front windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail.

Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 453,650 units are affected by the recall.

Dealers will replace the front windshield wiper motor, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 3, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S71. This recall expands previous recall number 22V-142.

Three recalls for Navistar trucks

November saw three recalls for 2021-2023 International and LoneStar trucks.

The latest recall (NHTSA campaign number 22V869000; issued on Nov. 23) addresses broken hex flange steering and suspension lock nuts on nearly 26,000 trucks including certain 2021-2022 International CV, 2022-2023 International HV, 2023 IC 1300 FBC, CE, RE, TC, International MV, HX, LT, RH, and LoneStar vehicles.

NHSTA reports that the hex flange lock nuts, used in suspension and steering joints, were improperly heat treated and may break. NHTSA advises that a broken lock nut “may cause a loss of tension, leading to steering instability, and increasing the risk of a crash.”

Dealers will replace the hex flange lock nuts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 20, 2023. Owners may contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 22524.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

International high voltage cable recall

A high voltage cable recall issued on Nov. 17 (NHTSA Campaign Number 22V849000) applies to certain 2021-2023 International MV vehicles.

The high voltage positive cables that connect the battery packs to the manual service disconnects (MSD) may have been mislabeled.

A misidentified electrical cable may be mistaken for a de-energized cable by a technician or first responder, increasing the risk of electrical shock and injury.

Dealers will reinstall the battery cables and replace the associated warning labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 9, 2023. Owners may contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 22522.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

International wheel hub recall

A wheel hub issue in certain 2023 International MV vehicles resulted in a recall on November 10 (NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V834000).

NHTSA reports that the locking clips of the wheel hub retaining nut may have been damaged during installation, which may cause the wheel hub to loosen and separate from the axle housing.

A wheel hub that separates from the axle housing may increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says potentially 10 units are affected by the recall.

Dealers will inspect the hub retaining nuts for damage and replace them, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 9, 2023. Owners may contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 22521.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
