Aperia Technologies has expanded the capabilities of its Halo Connect i3 tire management system with the addition of a tire tread diagnostics suite and remote tire pressure set point adjustment features. The features are available for a limited number of customers now, and will be rolled out to all Halo Connect i3 users beginning in December.
“We're giving the fleets peace of mind that their tires are in optimal condition,” said Ralph Dimenna, chief commercial officer for Aperia Technologies. “Tires still represent a large number of the causes for accidents and downtime on the market. Most of that is due to chronic under inflation. The combination of keeping tires properly inflated and now giving them alerts on which tires they need to go check next time that truck comes in for a preventive maintenance check or service can reduce downtime as well.”
Designed to prolong the life of tires, the tread diagnostics suite analyzes tread depth data from roll-over readers, handheld scanners and digitized manual measurements to forecast wear and proactively notifies fleet managers of service recommendations.
Aperia also offers a premium option via a laser-based handheld 3D tread scanner that enables advanced tire service recommendations and maintenance insights. Using the scanner, the system can detect irregular and excessive tire wear, mismatched tires, and alignment issues to help fleets optimize their maintenance programs and maximize miles.
The remote tire pressure set point adjustment feature allows fleet managers to optimize tire pressure based on load weight, driving conditions, application and seasonal environments.
Aperia says the unlocked features on the Halo Connect i3 allows the system to improve tread life by 15 to 20 percent. “You now have fewer tread issues that you have to treat, said Dimenna. “And the system can tell the technicians now exactly which tires on the vehicle need to be touched when, instead of searching 10 or 18 tires on every truck and trailer to figure out which ones need to be treated.”
