00:27 The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is conducting a landmark study on trucking detention time and is seeking 60 to 80 carriers to participate.
According to VTTI, approximately two-thirds of drivers experience detention time each month. The study, titled “Impact of Driver Detention Time on Safety and Operations” and funded by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will collect data with the aim to help better understand why detention time happens, how often it happens and what can be done about it at the federal level.
Participating carriers will remain anonymous and will receive a free, individualized report on the impact of detention time on their safety and operations. If interested in participating, contact the research team at [email protected].
01:20 Transportation management system provider TrueTMS has rolled out a new risk-free program that enables tanker fleets to implement technology.
The tanker segment of the trucking industry, accustomed to using outdated legacy transportation management systems, can now take advantage of a new risk-free program. After rolling out an extension for tanker fleets back in March called TrueLiquid, TrueTMS is offering contract buy-outs and free implementation services that ease migration to its platform.
In addition, TrueTMS is offering waived data migration fees, a referral program where customers can earn additional subscription credits and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee.
TrueLiquid couples core TrueTMS functionality with fleet management features, including the TrueCast module that forecasts customer demand and tank inventories. The platform automates back-office and mobile workflows, simplifies data analytics, and expands system integrations. Its cloud-native architecture plugs into existing systems.
02:23 Aperia Technologies Inc., which provides tire management solutions for medium- and heavy-duty truck fleets, has integrated its Halo Connect platform on the Geotab Marketplace.
This enables drivers to conveniently receive tire health information in the same place where they log driving hours, conduct pre-trip inspections and confirm vehicle health.
The Halo Connect add-in simplifies and streamlines pre-trip tire pressure inspections down to one click in the Geotab Drive app, saving valuable time. In addition, tire health alerts are sent directly to the driver's device when they have push notifications enabled. The fleet manager retains control of driver permissions and the ability to send customized messages to drivers. This targeted messaging allows the fleet to send the correct information promptly with actionable steps to drivers alongside crucial alerts.
