00:00 In this week’s CCJ Tech Shorts, we’ll take a look at DAT’s expanded load visibility, Geotab’s MCP Connector, Trimble’s new TMS for shippers and more.

00:35 DAT Freight & Analytics has expanded the reloads feature in its Convoy Platform app to now show reload options of available freight near a delivery stop before carriers book a load. This gives carriers earlier visibility into backhaul options so they can plan beyond the first leg, factor the full trip into their bidding decision, and avoid empty miles.

The trucking app provides full information on available reloads, including the book-now rate, deadhead miles to the pickup, and pickup timing after delivery. From there, carriers book or bid directly on that freight in the app.

01:10 Geotab has launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector to enable secure access to live MyGeotab data and the Geotab Ace agentic platform directly within ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and other MCP-compatible and approved AI platforms.

The Geotab MCP Connector enables users to ask questions in plain language, execute multi-step workflows and take direct action. Users can create alerts, schedule maintenance, generate reports and build full-fledged applications, all without leaving the AI tools their organization already supports.

Unlike proprietary AI solutions, the Geotab MCP Connector is built on an open standard, giving customers the flexibility to connect their fleet intelligence to the AI platform of their choice rather than being locked into a single ecosystem. They connect through their own approved AI environments, allowing them to maintain control over security, privacy and data governance in accordance with their existing policies.

02:07 Tech platforms Fleetworthy and Lytx have integrated to embed time-specific video snapshots directly within Safety+, previously known as Drivewyze Safety+. The enhancement surfaces video snapshots inside Safety+ Map View alongside driver behavior insights, such as speeding and adverse weather driving data. This enables fleet managers to combine visual event evidence with Safety+ risk data, helping them make faster, more informed coaching decisions without leaving the Fleetworthy platform.

02:36 Trimble has rolled out a cloud-native transportation management system for North American shippers. Trimble TMS for Shippers, which allows companies of all sizes to customize by adding point solutions as needed, offers a configurable experience that integrates with existing enterprise resource planning products.

Key offerings include advanced solutions for transport planning and execution, freight marketplace sourcing, freight visibility, dock and yard management, freight audit, and mapping and routing.

By leveraging AI to automate freight planning and assignment, predictive ETA tracking, carrier vetting and more, the solution streamlines manual workflows, enhances analytics and helps ensure compliance. It enables users to navigate real-world disruptions using planning tools that can account for weather and geopolitical volatility, while supporting sustainability practices such as reducing carbon emissions through optimized network visibility and improved truck fill.

03:30 AI-powered truck dispatch planning and management platform BeyondTrucks has introduced a new capability that eliminates paperwork and creates a shared operational record between the driver, the carrier and the customer.

Designed for dedicated fleets, Field Dispatch allows drivers to digitally record customer instructions in the BeyondTrucks mobile app, automatically linking it to the appropriate customer and contract records.

The solution enables fleets to capture transportation work the moment it’s assigned in the field; record operational activities that occur outside traditional dispatch workflows; collect supporting documentation, including scale tickets, Bills of Lading, photographs and other field-generated records; document detention, delays, hold-ups, and special events with time- and geolocation-stamped evidence; and create auditable records that support customer billing, driver compensation and operational reconciliation.

04:22 Fillip Fleet, a Canadian digital fuel card and vehicle expense management platform, has expanded its services to the U.S.

The platform allows businesses to issue digital fuel cards to drivers instantly through a smartphone app. Drivers use Fillip cards for fuel and other fleet purchases, with contactless payments supported by Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Business owners and fleet managers gain visibility into every purchase with real-time data-enabled authorization, while secure digital cards eliminate the risks of physical card fraud and ensure data integrity at the point of sale – all paired with customizable spending controls and automated reporting.

With no setup fees, no vehicle minimums and optional credit checks, businesses can begin fueling vehicles in as soon as one day.

05:06 TMS provider PCS Software has integrated Triumph Market Rate Intelligence from transportation-focused fintech company Triumph.

Carriers using Cortex Opportunity Manager and Cortex Backhaul Booster, the AI-powered freight prioritization and backhaul optimization features inside PCS TMS, can now see current market rate benchmarks alongside every load, scored against each fleet's profitability logic in real time. This gives dispatchers pricing context so they can avoid underpriced freight before it's accepted.

05:37 TruSygnal, a platform that connects asset-based carriers with shippers to facilitate contract freight opportunities, has unveiled a new “trust-based pricing” model. The company is offering 30 days of unrestricted free access, after which users pay what they want for a full year, replacing traditional subscription fees with a flexible, value-driven model.

Every carrier and shipper must go through the TruSygnal onboarding process, which includes research into the company, calls to get to know each other, and in-person visits whenever possible.
