Navistar has received Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approval on its 13-liter engines the company announced, adding they expect to deliver their first Cummins powered ProStar units with SCR-based 13-liter engines by May 1.

The company introduced its first SCR-based commercial trucks in North America late last year with the ProStar powered with the Cummins ISX 15-liter engine.

The 13-liter engine’s approval now gives Navistar a complete lineup of SCR engines for it’s Class 8 International line.

Last summer, Navistar elected to abort plans to develop a large bore EGR engine and opted to partner with Cummins.
