Bestpass announced that it is continuing to expand its coverage of tolling authorities across the country which is giving truckers and fleet managers a way to reduce operating expenses.
“We are actively increasing our staff to accommodate the new business,” said John Andrews, president and COO. Bestpass currently has 18 employees and will be hiring at least five additional employees in 2014.
Tolling authorities across the country have been tasked with a mandate from the federal government to become interoperable by the end of 2016. Truckers who travel from one state to the next will often have multiple tolling transponders attached to their windshield and use alternative technologies because the system used from one tolling authority to the next are not compatible.
Bestpass has established operating arrangements or agreements with E-ZPass, ExpressToll, Prepass, Norpass, NJPass and NCPass. The connections has simplified tolling and weigh station bypass coverage throughout its combined service area, the company says.
“We are well on our way to providing our service to truckers all across the country who use our toll management solution,” said Andrews.
Bestpass says it removes the need to manage accounts with multiple tolling authorities and weigh station bypass providers.
“In addition to replacing multiple transponders with a simplified solution, we provide our customers with a single invoice and toll discounts that could be as high as 20 percent off what they typically would get on their own,” Andrews said.
Fleets enrolled in the company’s tolling system include FedEx, C.R. England, YRC Freight and Werner Enterprises. To date, Bestpass says it works with over 1,800 fleets.
Bestpass’ income is derived from charging its client a nominal per vehicle service fee. Currently there are 117,000-plus registered Bestpass transponders on the road, up from 18,000 in 2009.
