Overdrive magazine this month is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a cross-country Voice of the American Trucker tour. Beginning with a trucker appreciation day Aug. 5 at the TravelCenters of America in Cottondale, Ala., the tour will culminate at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, September 7-9.

Along the way, the Volvo VN 770 tour truck will stop at truck stops and other locations. Inside the trailer will be an exhibit documenting the course of Overdrive and the trucking industry through the past four decades.

The truck will be outfitted with some of the latest technology, including the Bendix night vision system, KVH mobile satellite TV system, Sirius satellite radio system and the Pre-Pass automatic vehicle identification system. The seats will be equipped with Motion Master ride management system from Lord Corp., and it all rides on Alcoa Aluminum wheels and Continental General tires.

The Great Dane trailer has been customized as a traveling exhibit by Indiana Custom Trucks, and ATD Graphics supplied its graphics. Other 40th Anniversary sponsors include CitiCapital, AT&T, Chevron Lubricants, Dart Transit, Petro Stopping Centers, TravelCenters of America, Pro-Miles Seats Inc, Jacobs Vehicle Systems, Tax Clearance Center, Fleetguard/Nelson, Midnight Cowboy Radio Network, Blue Beacon, Knights Inn, American Truck Management, Auto Trim of North America, Cobra and Audio Adventures.
