Cadec Corp.’s Mobius TTS onboard computer can now be equipped with Aether System’s Multimode Modem. Previously, Mobius TTS owners had to use either the more expensive satellite-only communications or the less reliable terrestrial-only communications.
Aether’s Multimode Modem automatically selects the lower cost terrestrial path for data transmissions when the vehicle is in terrestrial coverage. Messages not sent over the terrestrial network are transmitted over the satellite network, ensuring 100 percent coverage. Sixty-five to 75 percent of all data messages are transmitted over the less costly terrestrial network, according to Cadec.
