Qualcomm’s new OmniOne service lets drivers receive and send load assignments, status updates and other information through a standard mobile phone. OmniOne, which integrates with current Qualcomm OmniTRACS and OmniExpress systems, features two-way data and voice communication, data integration, store-and-forward guaranteed messaging and other services, such as mapping and directions.
Designed with small fleets and owner-operators in mind, OmniOne users can still receive and send messages like regular OmniTRACS users without having to buy the more expensive cab-mounted hardware and in-cab keyboard and display unit. The OmniOne will have selected deployment by year-end and will be available for sale in early 2002, the company says.
