PeopleNet Communications has upgraded all PeopleNet g2x systems to deliver two major product enhancements: IMessaging and Start/Stop event-based reporting. Using its patent-pending over-the-air-programming technology, PeopleNet
(www.peoplenetonline.com) was able to upgrade g2x for its customers without requiring them to take power units off the road.
IMessaging lets drivers and dispatchers send larger blocks of data, such as load assignments and routing instructions, more cost effectively through one billable message rather than several. The Start/Stop reporting feature determines starts and stops by combining speed, time and ignition parameters and monitors such key business metrics as average number and duration of stops.
IMessaging and Start/Stop event-based reporting together comprise the first phase of a system PeopleNet calls Pacos. Announced last September, Pacos will be a fully automated, exception-based load and driver management system. In the third quarter of this year, PeopleNet plans to implement more sophisticated location/event-based messaging. The third phase of Pacos, slated for next year, will include time and route management/optimization features.
