International Truck and Engine Co. launched its International 8600 tractor, which is designed for regional-haul operators. It features standard Caterpillar and Cummins 10- to 12-liter engines and other application-designed components. The International 8600 replaces the 8100 and 9100 tractor models.

The 107-inch-BBC tractor also features a 50-degree wheel cut for improved maneuverability, and a 46-inch setback wide-track front axle. It has a sloped hood and large curved windshield for improved visibility.

The 8600 will be available in 4Ă—2 and 6Ă—4 models and in an extended cab with bunk. International is taking orders on the model; production will begin in September.
International also introduced a new interior for its 9000i Series tractor that it says will deliver increased comfort and convenience. The interior features new wood grain highlights, ivory dials and new seats. The cab is also more office-friendly and includes several pull-out work surfaces.
