TCA approves ATA re-affiliation

The Truckload Carriers Association last month voted to re-affiliate with the American Trucking Associations in an arrangement that allows the two groups to operate independently.

TCA President Robert Hirsch said that the biggest change will be that TCA will now have a voting seat on the ATA Executive Committee and use of other ATA resources.

TCA will pay ATA an annual advocacy fee of $100,000, although TCA retains the option of hiring its own lobbyist as needed. ATA’s Political Action Committee will now be able to solicit TCA members who are not ATA members. Without an affiliation agreement, the PAC was prohibited from soliciting another organization’s members.
