Volvo Trucks North America reported orders and potential orders from Knight Transportation, U.S. Xpress Enterprises and Tyson Foods for up to 3,727 of the truck makers redesigned VN series trucks. Volvo signed a long-term agreement to provide up to 3,000 VNL670s, equipped with either the Volvo V-Pulse or Cummins ISX engines, to Knight through 2006.

U.S. Xpress ordered 500 VNL780s, delivery of which will begin in the second quarter next year and continue over 12 months. One hundred trucks will be equipped with the Volvo VE D12 engine, while the rest will receive Cummins ISX engines. Tyson Foods ordered 227 VNL670s, most of which will be delivered in the fourth quarter this year. All will be equipped with Cummins ISX engines.

Volvo launched the new version of its VN series in August, and production begins this fall.
