Cargo Transporters, a 330-truck carrier based in Claremont, N.C., is now specifying the Autovue Lane Guidance system on all its new truck purchases. Supplied by Iteris Inc. (www.iteris.com), the AutoVue Lane Guidance system detects the position of the markings relative to the vehicle through machine vision and alerts the driver to unintended lane departures through sounds, vibrations or both.

Praxair, one of the world’s largest industrial gases companies, has purchased 50 Eagle Eye Obstacle Detection systems from Transportation Safety Technologies (www.tst-eagleeye.com) to reduce backing accidents. The Eagle Eye system alerts a driver to any object within 10 feet of his vehicle to help him avoid colliding with it.
