Manhattan Associates signed a letter of intent to acquire the assets of Logistics.com Inc., developer of optimization tools for carriers and advanced transportation execution and procurement solutions for shippers.

Pegasus TransTech announced that Heartland Express and Landstar have selected the company’s Transflo Express truck stop scanning service. The service allows drivers to return trip documents to their carriers immediately by having fuel desk attendants scan them and deliver them electronically. The service currently is available at 236 truck stops nationwide.

Profit Tools said its latest update to Profit Tools for Trucking provides a data-integration interface with QuickBooks Pro 2003 and QuickBooks Premier 2003. The new capabilities allow data to be shared and transferred between the applications in real time rather than using file-based interfaces.

Qualcomm announced that 36 new U.S. carriers have signed agreements to use the wireless fleet management system in Qualcomm’s quarter ended September 2002. Among the new customers are AG Trucking, Builders Transportation Co., Dupre Transport, Express Leasing, Luckey Trucking, and MST Express.

Aether Systems announced that J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc., a 600-truckload carrier based in New Ulm, Minn., converted its fleet to Aether MobileMax for wireless vehicle tracking and messaging.

EMS Technologies and GEOCOMtms (www.geocomtms.com) announced they have successfully deployed a joint solution to transportation customers with fleets ranging from 35 to 1,000 trucks. Customers include K-dac Expedite, Koch Transport, Royal Tank Lines, Transport Georges Leger and Robert Transport. The EMS PDT-100 terminal provides satellite-based GPS, messaging and data transfer in real time. GEOCOMtms develops solutions for routing and scheduling of fleet operations.

UPS Logistics Technologies released Version 2.0 of its Roadnet Transportation Suite, a complete delivery management solution that supports operations from route planning through delivery. Roadnet 5000 optimizes daily routing and scheduling. Territory Planner offers strategic planning functions and Fleetloader manages the loading of beverage vehicles.
