Minorplanet Systems USA, Inc., a provider of telematics-based management solutions for commercial fleets, announced a low power radio frequency (RF) data transfer option for its fleet management system called Vehicle Management Information (VMI). The (RF) option utilizes two-way radio waves that enable Minorplanet customers to download vehicle location information free of charge.
Typically, the vehicle data is downloaded via cellular and incurs monthly airtime costs. With RF, customers whose vehicles regularly return to the same location or “base” can now transfer vehicle information for free, says W. Michael Smith, executive vice president of Minorplanet Systems USA.
