SafeStat results now are updated on a monthly basis on SafeStat Online. Previously, the results were updated twice a year. In addition, vehicle information – VIN number, unit license number and unit license state – has been added to the detailed data available in driver out-of-service inspections and moving violations.


Pennsylvania’s attorney general announced that agents of his Environmental Crimes Section charged Waste Management of New York and Kephart Trucking, Bigler, Pa., with violations of state environmental crimes laws for allegedly transporting infectious medical waste from a Brooklyn, N.Y., transfer station to a landfill in Pennsylvania.


Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration assessed a civil penalty of $302,000 against USA Van Lines of Brooklyn, N.Y., for multiple violations of federal regulations governing household goods carriers. An investigation of the carrier was conducted because of consumer complaints. USA Van will have an opportunity to contest the alleged violations and the amount of the penalties in an agency proceeding.


Environmental Protection Agency has extended until March 31 the comment period on its pilot Enforcement and Compliance History Online (ECHO) website, which contains searchable, facility-level enforcement and compliance information. For more information, visit this site.
