Apriva Inc. announced Freight Tracker, a wireless system designed for mid-sized freight forwarders, package delivery companies, couriers and LTLs. Using an ASP model, Freight Tracker bundles software, hardware, handheld devices and wireless network access in a quick-to-implement package for wireless dispatch, shipping, package tracking and driver communications.
Using a handheld device, drivers can perform common tasks, such as access the day’s pick up and delivery schedule, report damage to a shipment or transmit electronic proof of delivery to headquarters in order to quickly initiate the billing cycle. Freight Tracker integrates with peripherals such as printers or barcode scanners and uses standard protocols such as XML and HTTP for easy integration with existing dispatch and tracking software systems, the company says.
