Aether Systems Inc. announced that Joplin, Mo.-based Contract Freighters Inc. and Pittston, Pa.-based TRL Inc. are converting their fleet tracking and mobile communications from the Highway Master 5000 series to Aether’s MobileMax system. Aether acquired the Highway Master 5000 system from @Track Communications last year. The conversion, which involves new hardware and software, covers all 2,400 trucks operated by CFI and all 600 operated by TRL.
As part of the MobileMax deployment, CFI plans to implement Aether’s ADV Monitor, which provides real-time information on vehicle and driver performance, state-line crossings and vehicle fault codes. The carrier also will use Aether’s new Proximity Alert feature, which automatically notifies managers of critical arrival and departure information.
