SkyBitz, a privately held provider of satellite-based communications and tracking services for transportation equipment, announced that Landstar System Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., selected SkyBitz’s GLS Services for trailer tracking. Landstar System, Inc. has ordered SkyBitz Mobile Terminals for retrofit installations and specified the SkyBitz Terminals on some of its new trailers in 2003.


AirIQ announced that Lease Assurance Corporation (LAC) has acquired AirIQ’s products and services to protect and manage its leased commercial vehicles in a deal valued at $1.3 million. LAC, based in Lake Mary, Fla., is a special-purpose finance company created to fund the acquisition of commercial tractors and trailers, and to acquire lease revenues from those vehicles.


Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. announced three new enhancements for registered users of its website. The improvements include pre-assigned PRO numbers that can be obtained when submitting an LTL electronic bill of lading; online printing of bar-coded shipping labels; and auto-delivery of manifest reports via email or fax.


GEOCOMtms announced that Brentwood, Tenn.-based Express Courier International (ECI) has chosen its A.MAZE solution to optimize routes, decrease operation costs and support continued growth. ECI is a major local and regional courier with over 10,000 runs per day and locations throughout Tennessee and the surrounding areas.
