Eaton Vorad Safety Systems, part of the Roadranger Solution of products and services, introduced a tamper detection option to its EVT-300 collision warning system for customers who use Qualcomm’s OmniTRACS system. The option will provide fleets with real-time notification of any vehicle tampering.
Eaton Vorad’s EVT-300 provides alerts to drivers to promote safe following distances if the driver follows too closely behind another vehicle. To stop the alert, the driver must back off to create a safe following distance. In practice, however, some drivers have instead disabled the system by unplugging the EVT-300’s Driver Display or removing power to the EVT-300 altogether.
