The Volvo Group unveiled a DME engine at Synbios, a conference on biofuels held in Stockholm, Sweden.

The vehicle, introduced on May 18, is a standard Volvo FM model equipped with a 9-liter diesel engine adapted to operate on DME.

Di-methyl ether is an LPG-like fuel produced from biomass and residual products from paper pulp production. DME is produced through gasification of various renewable substances or fossil fuels. The gas that is formed, synthetic gas, then is catalysed to produce DME.
