Virginia bridge speed limit lowered

The speed limit on the 7.5-mile Wilson Bridge Project Corridor in Virginia and Maryland is being lowered to 50 mph.

The new speed limit will affect the road from the Maryland 210 Interchange to the Telegraph Road Interchange. The new speed limit will be in effect into 2008.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will sponsor a stepped-up presence by state police. Violation fines will be as much as $500.
