Diesel price increases again

The national average retail price of a gallon of diesel increased 1.2 cents, to $2.348, for the week ending July 4. That’s a 63-cent increase from the same week of 2004.

The average diesel price increased in all regions tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy except for the Lower Atlantic, where it dipped less than a penny. The largest increase, 4 cents, was in the Rocky Mountains.

The highest average diesel price was in New England at $2.485, the lowest on the Gulf Coast at $2.290.
