DATTCO, a transportation company headquartered in New Britain, Conn., recently received a safety award of excellence for an Outstanding 2005 Accident Record at the annual TRAX Insurance meeting in Quebec, Canada.

“DATTCO was one of the first recipients of the annual Safety Excellence Award. This is a very prestigious award that honors the industry leaders in transportation safety,” said Doug Anderson, chairman of the Risk Control Committee for TRAX Insurance.

Criteria for the award, which was presented on July 19, was based on the participating companies’ loss ratios over the last two years, involvement in safety-related workshops, preventable accident rate and assessments conducted by professional safety consultants.

“DATTCO’s success is a result of our ongoing training programs and dedicated staff,” said Pamela Martinez, DATTCO’s vice president of human resources and risk management. “We have a strong safety team with many years of experience and excellent credentials. DATTCO’s priority has always been the safety of its passengers.”

DATTCO’s safety policy is to identify and address risks associated with all phases of its operation, and to manage those risks to minimize harm to employees and the public. The DATTCO Risk Management Department is responsible for the safety and training of personnel. Training techniques such as hands-on investigation of mock accident scenes increase attention to detail and effectively assist in managing liability exposure. DATTCO recently updated its safety program to include anti-terrorist training.

Established in 1924, DATTCO is a family-owned full service transportation company. Its three main divisions include Coach & Tour, Sales & Service and School Bus.
