Sloan Transportation Products — a supplier of heavy truck and trailer products to original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket — announced that James “Jim” Gonzales has joined the company as research and development manager.

Gonzales will be responsible for the research and development of product lines for both the heavy-duty and engine controls areas. He will manage Sloan’s new product development from conception to launch.

“We are excited to have a veteran engineer like Jim join our team,” said Douglas S. Thomson, vice president of sales and marketing for Sloan. “We see great opportunities in developing products for the marketplace that are in direct response to the needs of owner-operators, fleet managers and service dealers. Jim will be helping us design and implement these product-oriented solutions.”

Gonzales has an extensive engineering background of more than 30 years in the automotive industry in various positions. For the past 12 years, he was the owner of Best Products, and was involved in the design and the development of mass airflow sensors, wiring harnesses, analog-to-frequency converters and electronic fuel management units. Prior to this, Gonzales worked at Kelsey Hayes in their electronic division, and at Ford Motor Company where he worked for 19 years. During his time at Ford, he worked in their ignition systems department, vehicle office and electronics division.
