Offered in both fully concentrated and premixed varieties, Prestone Heavy Duty ELC meets the performance requirements of CAT EC-1, according to the company. Its patented formulation and TMC-compliant color is based on a concentrated blend of long-lasting inhibitors designed to provide up to 300,000 miles or 6,000 hours of protection against temperature extremes, rust, corrosion, scale and premature water pump failure.
When flushing and filling the cooling system, choose the concentrated Prestone Heavy Duty ELC and follow the OEM’s recommendations and directions for use summarized on the one-gallon bottle. When topping off the cooling system, choose the premixed Prestone Extended Life Heavy Duty 50/50 Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant, which the company says features the precise factory-fill blend used by most major heavy-duty engine manufacturers — 50 percent antifreeze concentrate for temperature and corrosion protection, and 50 percent demineralized water for heat transfer protection.
When used as directed, both varieties of the Prestone Antifreeze/Coolant formulas may be added to any antifreeze/coolant of any heavy-duty application for any trucks, farm, off-road and/or marine engines. In addition, the silicate, phosphate and borate-free formulation will protect aluminum and all other engine metals and will provide long-lasting inhibition and corrosion protection, according to Prestone.
