America’s Road Team (ART), sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America, is launching a new project — the National Highway Safety Network of America’s Road Team — utilizing the communications skills of current ART captains and that of several ART veterans.

This network of ART captains will become established as the highway safety experts from the trucking industry in their local areas, and occasionally lead safety presentations and local earned media campaigns.

The inaugural initiative for the network will be a national safe driver-training day, conducted in concert with Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day on Monday, Oct. 10, sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. One of the many co-sponsors of Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day is AAA, which has been a key ally for highway safety through their participation in ATA media tour events in cities throughout the country.

Each year Oct. 10th is dedicated to remind all drivers to be safe to reduce fatalities all year long. ATA has decided to join this national public affairs campaign by launching the National Highway Safety Network on this important day. So on Monday, Oct. 10, ART captains from all over the country will go out into their community, coordinate with other highway safety groups, and share the message of safe driving and accident prevention.
