The National Motor Freight Traffic Association is offering the data files comprising the National Motor Freight Classification NMF 100-AF. NMFTA is a nonprofit membership association representing less-than-truckload carriers throughout North America. The NMFC is known as the “definitive industry standard” by carriers and shippers alike for classifying goods for transport by truck in North America. The Classification Data files are provided on CD-Rom in ASCII text format so it can be imported easily to a variety of databases.

An annual subscription to the Rules and Packaging Data — rules, packaging provisions and participant list, including updates — is available to NMFC participants for $3,000 and NMFC nonparticipants for $5,000. An annual Subscription to the Commodity Data — index, articles, headings and participants, including updates — is available to NMFC participants for $3,500 per year and NMFC nonparticipants for $5,500. Both products, including updates, are available together to NMFC participants for $4,500 and NMFC nonparticipants for $6,500. For contracts exceeding one year for all files, NMFTA is offering a discounted price of $3,900 for the first year and a 10 percent discount off the list price thereafter.

“We are pleased to announce the availability of the NMFC data files, which deliver in electronic format the same information included in the NMF 100-AF,” says William Pugh, NMFTA executive director. “This is the first year NMFTA is licensing this data directly. Previously we produced the information and sold it through a reseller. We are excited that we can offer this important data to the industry at lower prices.”
