International Truck and Engine’s Used Truck Organization recently donated two commercial trucks to the American Red Cross chapter in Shreveport, La.

The trucks, which were donated on Dec. 21, both are older 4700 models with a retail value of $30,000 apiece. They will be the first trucks owned by the local chapter, which has been supporting 6,000 to 10,000 Hurricane Katrina victims. Previously, the chapter relied on rental trucks to deliver supplies from its warehouse to various shelters around the area that includes 10 parishes.

In addition to transporting supplies to shelters, the trucks also will be used to help administer health fairs and special events for the residents of the Shreveport area.
