Watkins and Shepard Trucking is raising its pay rate — out of certain terminals, up to $1.02 per mile plus a 100 percent pass-through of the fuel surcharge — to expand by 30 new owner-operators.

The pay rate will be paid out of the carrier’s terminals in Los Angeles; Myrtle, Miss.; Dalton, Ga.; and Hickory, N.C. Watkins and Shepard will continue to pay up to 88 cents per mile and 100 percent of the fuel surcharge for loads out of its 18 other terminals, as well as for deadhead. Overall, drivers can expect to average 96 cents per mile plus 100 percent pass-through of the fuel surcharge, the company says.

Watkins and Shepard is located in Missoula, Mont.
