National diesel price average up 4 cents

After several consecutive weeks of dropping prices, the national diesel price average shot up more than 4 cents, to $2.485, for the week ending Monday, Jan. 9, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Prices rose in every region. The West Coast saw the biggest jump, 5.8 cents, to $2.577. The East Coast saw the second-highest increase, 4.7 cents, to $2.528.

The Rocky Mountain region’s average price rose 2.9 cents to $2.421. The Midwest and the Gulf Coast averages both increased by 3.9 cents, to $2.451 and $2.453, respectively.
