Highway Watch says the Southwest Florida Terrorism Task Force recently tracked down a person who was the subject of a formal “Be On the Lookout,” or BOLO, issued by the Highway Watch program’s Highway ISAC on Jan. 10.

Highway ISAC had requested assistance from members of the trucking and law enforcement community to assist in identifying a person of interest with connection to several reported incidents in the southeastern United States. In three separate incidents, truck drivers reported an individual asking several questions about tank truck deliveries and operations. The individual in question also was reported to have videotaped tank truck operations and deliveries as well as taken photographs of tanker equipment.

The person was identified, located and interviewed at length, according to special agent Jim Myers of the Southwest Florida Terrorism Task Force. While there is no known terrorism nexus associated with the individual, the circumstances were such that resolving the reported incidents was important, Myers says.
